Museum Passes

The following passes are available at the Circulation desk. All passes are reserved on a first-come first-served basis. Reservations may be made in person, by phone, or online below. Passes may be reserved by anyone with an Old Colony Library Network card.

All passes are sponsored by the Friends of the Kingston Public Library.

Children's Museum of Boston: 1 pass admits 4 at a charge of $2.00 per person. This pass does not have to be returned to the library and does not include special exhibits.

Children's Museum of Easton: 1 pass admits up to 4 people 50% off admission. This pass does not have to be returned to the library. Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm, Sundays 12pm - 5pm (closed Sundays in the summer)

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum: 1 pass admits 4 at $5 per person Tuesday - Friday. The Saturday, Sunday and Holiday pass admits 2 at $5 per person. This pass must be returned to the library before 10 am on the day following its use.

Museum of Fine Arts: 1 pass admits 2 adults with a $5.00 co-payment for general admission. For the special exhibitions there is a $8.00 per person fee. Special exhibit passes cannot be reserves in advance: they can only be reserved upon arrival at the Museum. This pass does not have to be returned to the library.

Museum of Science: 1 pass admits 4 at a charge of $5.00 per person. This pass does not have to be returned to the library and does not include special exhibits, Omni theatre laser shows or Planetarium.

Mystic Aquarium: 1 pass admits 2 adults and 2 children at a discount. Adult discount admission price is $16.50(Regular admission price is $23.). Child discount price is $11.50(Regular admission price is $17.). The pass is available only on Saturdays and Sundays. This pass must be returned to the library the day following its use.

New England Aquarium: 1 pass admits 4 at a reduced admission fee of $8.00. (Regular admission rates are $19.95 for age 12+, $17.95 for seniors, and $11.95 for children.) This pass does not have to be returned to the library and does not include special exhibits. It is not available during July and August.

ParksPass: The "Use Nature as your Library" program allows library patrons free access to Massachusetts state parks. 1 pass entitles the bearer to free parking at over 50 facilities in the Massachusetts state parks system that charge a day-use parking fee. This pass can be booked for up to 7 days.

Plimoth Plantation:1 pass admits up to 2 adults at a charge of $5.00 per person and up to 2 children at a charge of $4.00 per person. This pass must be returned to the library before 10 a.m. on the day following use and includes the Village and the Mayflower. It is not available from December through March.

Robbins Museum of Archaeology: 1 pass admits up to 2 people free of charge. Wednesdays 10am - 4pm, Thursdays 10 am-2pm and Saturdays 10am - 2pm. For more information on the Museum or Massachusetts Archaeological Society, please call 508-947-9005.

Roger Williams Park Zoo: 1 pass admits any combination of 4 people--adults, seniors and/or children to the museum at 50% discount-admission.. This pass must be returned to the library before 10 a.m. on the day following its use. It does not include special exhibits.

The Sports Museum: 1 pass admits up to 6 people free admission to the Sports Museum located in the TD Banknorth Garden. The museum is open 11 am to 5 pm, but hours may change due to Garden events. This pass must be returned to the library before 10am on the day following its use.

Wheelock Family Theatre: 1 pass admits 1 person free. Friday 7:30 pm, Saturday 3 pm, Sunday 3 pm performances. Call box office to check seating availability (617 879-2300). (Regular ticket prices are: Section A - $23.00, B - $19.00, C - $15.00.) Ticket prices are based on where you sit in the auditorium, and not on age.

Zoo New England (Franklin Park Zoo and the Stone Zoo):
1 pass admits 2 adults and 4 children (2-12) FREE of charge.
This pass must be returned to the library before 10am on the day following its use. Beginning January 1, 2009, Zoo New England will start charging visitors a co-payment of $2 per person.

Friends of the Kingston Public Library, December 5
The Friends of the Kingston Public Library will meet the first Friday of every month at 1:00 p.m. in the Children's Activities Room. All are welcome! If you have an interest in the library and the community as a whole we would appreciate your time and talents! We’re looking for new ideas and suggestions. Kingston Public Library Book Groups

The Kingston Public Library sponsors two Book Groups:one Book Group meets on the second Monday of each month, from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. The second Book group meets on the third Wednesday afternoon of each month. Newcomers are always welcome. If you have questions or need a copy of the book, please call Maryanne Driscoll at (781) 585-0517 or email her at mdriscol@kingstonpubliclibrary.org.

We also provide support services for book groups. If you are looking for ideas for your current group or advice on starting a new group, we will do our best to help.

 

Wednesday Afternoon Book Group--next meeting will be January. Are you interested in joining a Book Group, but don’t have the time for the Required Reading? The Kingston Public Library invites you to come join with us as at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons. At this book group you can choose the book that you would like to share with others. Local History Exhibit Case

A Salute to our Veterans

November's Local History Room exhibit honors veterans with a display of artifacts and documents
that give a small glimpse of the soldier's life and return home.

Exhibits

We host monthly exhibits in our Gallery and display cases. We have occasional exhibits in our Meeting Room. We especially encourage exhibits by local artists, or exhibits with a local theme. How to reserve the Meeting Room

To reserve the Meeting Room, visit or call the Library during open hours to complete a request form. The Meeting Room may be used beyond the Library's regular open hours. Meeting Room use is free for most purposes. Businesses and individuals are charged $25 per use. Full conditions for use are outlined in the Meeting Room policy.

Computers and Internet

There are ten computers available in the reference area for public use. Sign in at the Reference Desk for one hour of computer time. Each computer is equipped with Microsoft Office 2000 and high-speed Internet access. All computers are attached to a printer. Printing costs 10 cents a page. The Library offers wireless internet access for laptops equipped with wireless network cards.

The acceptable use of computers and the internet in the Library are outlined in the Library's policy on computers.
