The Wednesday's Child Read-a-thon was a success! The Teen Advisory Board was just of shy of its goal of $500!
Thank you to the Friends of the Library for their generous donation of $150 to Wednesday's Child!

Would you like to be heard? If you are between 13 - 18, the KPL staff could use your input! The Library would like to hear from you! We would like to know what you would like to see in the Teen Zone. We would like to make the KPL a place that keeps your interest and where you can get the information that you want.

Please join us for the next meeting of the Teen Advisory Board on Saturday, December 6th at 3:00 pm in the Meeting Room. Pizza and refreshments will be served and this meeting can be used for community service credit.

Please call the KPL at 781-585-0518 to sign up, or for more information ask for Hannele.

Student Voices teaches teens how to become more involved in local government.

Teen Voices
Teen Voices is a print and an online magazine which is written by teenage girls for teenage girls. The magazine encourages girls to make a change in their community through journalism. Submit an article--maybe it will get published!

TeenSpace
The Internet Public Library for Teens is a great place to find website links for information on homework, schools, health, money, clubs and organizations. You can also find links to keep you busy for hours--games, music, books, magazines and trivia.

Open Vault
Open Vault provides online access to unique and historically important content produced by public television station WGBH for individual and classroom learning. The ever-expanding site contains video excerpts, searchable transcripts, a select number of complete interviews for purchase, and resource management tools.

The Merchants of Cool
The web site of the Frontline program on the relationship between marketing professionals -- the creators and sellers of popular culture -- and the teenage market, the hottest demographic in America. The program poses the question of which comes first - the attitude or the desire for the attitude? Teens drive the economy, but are teens really driving their own interests?

National Youth Advocacy Coalition
This organization advocates for and with young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans gender, or questioning (LGBTQ). It's "Youth Connections" page (http://www.nyacyouth.org/nyac/youth_connections.html) contains links to programs and resources nationwide. The site has a strong focus on social justice, teen physical and mental health, and racial equity.

Occupational Outlook Handbook
Learn about all the different types of careers and how to get involved in them with this tool from the US Bureau of Labor Services.

This site examines not only the truth or reality behind urban legends, "but also common fallacies, misinformation, old wives' tales, strange news stories, rumors, celebrity gossip, and similar items."

The Straight Dope
Archive of over 2,000 questions answered in Cecil Adam's Chicago Reader Column. Example: Why do we call it the "bathroom," even when it has no tub?

Teen Consumer Scrapbook
Sponsored by the Washington State Attorney General's Office and written by teens, this consumer guide addresses topics such as modeling scams, CD clubs, piercing, sports drinks, tanning, driving laws, scholarship scams, and a host of other relevant concerns and issues.

Sexuality and relationship information from Planned Parenthood of America.

Youth at Work: Real World, Real Rights!
Read about recent court cases involving teen workers and their rights (sexual harassment, discrimination, etc.). From the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Youth Noise
Nonprofit affiliated with Save the Children Federation, provides teens with a forum to express themselves and take action. Includes message boards and more.
